We’ve planned our SkySafari Tanzania trip meticulously to maximise your immersion in the African bush (with plenty of lovely surprises along the way).
You’ll be treated like a VIP from start to finish: we’ll fast-track you through airports, drive you directly onto runways, whisk you away in our private plane, serve you champagne and nibbles … Then we’ll deliver you into the heart of the wilderness to be pampered at the finest camps and have your eyes opened by the very best guides.
The Ngorongoro crater
See the largest intact caldera in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spend two nights in sleeping in treehouses.
Experience tree climbing lions.
Visit the Soda Lakes and see vast flocks of flamingos.
Tanzania is bowl you over country: big bewitching and breathtaking at every turn.
Welcome to the wild
Sometimes it feels like the plains stretch on forever. That Tanzania’s wilderness has no end. More than a third of this vast, varied country has been set aside for wildlife; Mother Nature remains well and truly in charge.
All this space paves the way for truly spine-tingling encounters, whether that’s watching hordes of wildebeest wandering the heat-hazed savannah; spotting lions lolling on rocky kopjes or leopards lazing up in the trees; standing by lakeshores flushed with a thousand flamingoes; or simply gazing up, far, far from anywhere, at an undiminished dazzle of stars.
Our carefully curated Tanzania flying safari will plunge you into this natural playground. We’ll deliver you in luxurious and efficient style to the most incredible locations, every last detail taken care of, every need met, every moment out of this world.
The untamed epic
Get ready to feel small indeed. Northern Tanzania is wilderness on a mind-blowing scale: big skies, big herds, big mountains, Big Five, big drama. This is where you’ll find the country’s finest safari spots and most striking terrain.
We’ll fly you effortlessly between the region’s highlights. We’ll take you to the treetops of Tarangire, where magical bedrooms balance amid the baobabs and the country’s biggest concentration of elephants roams. We’ll drop you down into Ngorongoro Crater, the UNESCO-listed basin brim-full of wildlife, known as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. And we’ll sweep you straight onto the boundless Serengeti, so you’ve got front-row seats for the wildest show on earth.
You’ve got front-row seats for the wildest show on earth.
No second wasted
We’ve designed our Tanzania fly-in trip to give you more of that most precious thing: time. Using our own fleet of small, smart planes, rather than regular scheduled flights, our SkySafari Tanzania means you’ll spend around 16 hours less travelling. That’s more time for relaxing on your veranda overlooking the plains, picnicking out in the bush or watching the raw-in-tooth-and-claw spectacle of the bush.
You’ll be treated like a VIP from start to finish: we’ll fast-track you through airports, drive you directly onto runways, whisk you away in our private planes (which seat only nine passengers); you’ll enjoy champagne and nibbles, a greater luggage allowance, more space to relax… Then, with no needless stops or changes, we’ll land you in the heart of the wilderness. And you’ll be able to rest easy, knowing all our trips operate on a carbon-negative basis.
The best beds
The best safaris are those that put you right where the action is. Which is why we fly you between the Elewana Collection, a handful of unique camps and lodges that combine exquisite style with unrivalled locations and direct access to the wilderness.
In a private conservancy bordering the national park, Elewana Tarangire Treetops is like something from a fairytale, a scatter of suites teetering amongst the branches of the baobab trees. Elewana The Manor is possibly the most sumptuous stop on the safari circuit: its elegant Cape Dutch-styled cottages are perfectly placed for forays into the Ngorongoro Crater. In the Serengeti, we’ll take you to the best spot for the season: the handsome bygone-era tents of Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp, in the southern Serengeti, are wonderful when the wildebeest are calving and nearby Lake Magadi is flushed with a flamboyance of flamingoes; the sophisticated stilted suites of Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp are the place to watch the annual passing of two million ungulates.
And Arusha Coffee Lodge is a sweet-scented sanctuary. Its plantation-style houses are scattered across a working coffee farm and lush, tranquil gardens, and provide the perfect bookend to your safari.
It’s home to the continent’s highest mountain, the planet’s largest intact caldera, unfathomable numbers of animals, vast golden plains, truly enormous skies.
At SkySafari we’re committed to people: our guests, our staff and the communities in which we work. We’ll always give back, which is why each of our trips supports Land & Life, a foundation committed to a sustainable future for tourism. Land & Life aims to ensure that locals benefit from your visit, and that Africa’s precious wildlife and habitats are protected for the next generation.
Also, every Elewana Collection property we use is focused on responsible tourism, from revenue-sharing projects that support local conservancies to sponsorship of schools and clinics to well-managed recycling. All of the camps and lodges in Tanzania have undergone the vigorous verification process to receive eco-ratings from Responsible Tourism Tanzania.
Tanzania safari extensions
Why not stay a little longer?
We know that Africa is apt to get under your skin; you probably won’t want to leave. So we’re happy to help you extend your stay beyond our regular SkySafaris, in whatever way you choose.
More time in the bush
Whether you want more time in the bush or on the beach, we can make it happen.
Rest and Relaxation on a beach
After all those early starts on safari, you might fancy a few days – or weeks – simply lazing on the beach. And we know just the spots.
